There’s nothing quite like a vintage novelty print. Though I admittedly love a good rose or gingham print, novelty prints somehow manage to feel like they go a bit against the grain. You know the ones I mean – the prints that were the rebels in school, with a healthy disrespect for authority, who marched to their own drum. They stood on the outskirts, removed from the plaids and the ditsy florals, listening to bands you had never heard of. So confident and cool, less entrenched in the opinions of others.
This beauty was handmade from vintage fabric by the incredible Nicole Elaine Vintage. The deadstock novelty fashionista print had me at hello, so cool and aloof but approachable at the same time. I feel as though every fashionable lady adorning this skirt has her own unique style, her own story to tell. What will my fashion story be today I wonder…

Tonight I’m off to see my boss’ son rock the stage in his high school production of Happy Days. As my love of musical theatre knows no bounds, I’m really looking forward to it. It reminds me of the times when I used to perform, waiting anxiously in the wings for the curtain to rise. There’s something about the risk of live theatre – nothing else comes quite so close to wondering what that night will bring. Much like fashion, every performance and every outfit, is different. And it’s the part that keeps you guessing that keeps you coming back.
Before I can head off to the theatre, I have to unfortunately pay a visit to my dentist. I have a toothache that just won’t quit. While I’m hoping she can throw some fairy dust on it and make it magically better, I have a feeling it may be a bit more of a painful process. Here’s hoping I can channel a bit of rebellious superiority over my tooth from my fashionistas, or at least come out of it wearing a smile.
