A Fond Farewell

A Fond Farewell - The Dressed Aesthetic

As many of you know if you follow my Instagram, The Dressed Family has successfully moved to the States this week! It was a bit of a grueling trip (made ever-so-less grueling by the fact that I had squirreled away my air miles for the last year and wrangled us a Business Class Upgrade. I shall never be satisfied with flying cattle class again). However, we are now safely on US soil, complete with our loyal pets who survived their own overseas adventure with aplomb, and are all slowly recovering from our jet lag.

Before we left, we wanted one last Aussie send off, hosted at our favorite bar in Perth, The Classroom. As is often the case, I’d been planning the perfect outfit for ages and finally settled on this beautiful vintage party dress from When Decades Collide, befitting a final farewell. Hey, if I have to go, I’m going to go out resplendent in the finest vintage…

Due to how hectic that final week was, I didn’t have time to share my outfit on the blog, save for a quick Instagram snap. But, she certainly deserves her day in the blog spotlight…

We’re in San Diego for a couple of weeks before making the final trek over to North Carolina. We wanted to have a stopover in somewhere we knew – visit family, see friends, and get our bearings before embracing the unfamiliar yet again. We also wanted to give Willie and Finn a bit of a break from flying – they survived their journey with minimal complaints, but a trip that long is pretty stressful for them and some SoCal sun is exactly what they need.

It’s strange – even though it’s only been a couple of days, Perth already feels like a lifetime ago. Or like I watched a movie of it happening to someone else. I also find myself fretting about things I need to do, when in fact most of the heavy lifting is actually over. It’s always the way when you have a huge task. Your brain needs at least a week to adjust to the fact that the To Do List is actually the To Done list.

Now that we’re back in the US, we’re slowly adjusting to things we’d forgotten about. Crazy high speed limits. Tipping at restaurants. Excellent tacos. I suppose it’s not the toughest transition…

Anyone else have major life changes this week?

xoxo
