Oh, hello there June! Now that we are officially in the throws of summer, I can’t think of a better way to officially kick off the season than with a summer Lust List. There’s just something about this weather that inspires all shops to unearth the most amazing vintage. My wishlist and I almost can’t keep up!
Spring has sprung and it is officially sundress weather! With the semester coming to a close and summer fast approaching, I am feeling like bursting out of the stressful lecture-writing purgatory with some new beauties to add to my closet. The hardest part is, as usual, how to choose??
It’s that very magical time of year (for me at least) – my birthday is coming up! So naturally I start cultivating list after list of all of the pretties around the interwebs that seem fitting of a birthday girl (completely separate from my normal wish lists, of course). I’m not sure why, but items take on a certain special glow when they’re for my birthday…
I suddenly realized the holidays are nearly upon us! This will be our first back in the States in over 5 years and our first in North Carolina full stop. In addition to being ridiculously excited to take advantage of domestic US shipping (ohhh the joy of not paying $40 to ship something!) and being closer to home, I’m really motivated to start making a difference with my shopping dollars. After my recent post about the importance of supporting artists and entrepreneurs, I decided it was high time to do my annual Christmas Gift Guide purely from small businesses!
In all of the packing and unpacking that’s been going on, I almost managed to forget that Halloween was nearly upon us! It’s definitely a favorite time of year, not just for the fact that we can all get a bit creative and let out our inner ghouls and goblins, but for the simple fact that candy is aplenty…
With all of this craziness and packing going on in my life, I have to say my mind is definitely on clearing OUT rather than bringing in. Despite my desire to purge, however, my favorite shops keep parading beautiful things across my retinas. And I can’t help but start to get excited about being back in the US and back in the land of free shipping.
Murphy’s Law always states that when you can least afford to shop, all you’ll find are things you wish you could buy. And when you have a bit of extra cash and want to splurge on yourself, you can’t find a single thing that strikes your fancy. I generally fall into the former category. All. The. Time.
I’ve spent the last month and a half skipping around the States (and racking up a fair number of air miles – woot!). Despite loving my time in each city, the hardest part of travel is always the amount of time spent languishing in airports. I’ve definitely noticed over the past few years, however, that free wifi is all the rage. Thus, enter my favorite pastime: Online shopping.
What is it about this time of year? In either hemisphere, the world just seems brimming with possibilities. It’s just barely the start of summer in the North, just barely the start of winter in the South, and the air is crisp and clean and I can feel my closet quiver in excitement at the new season ahead.
Ahhh it’s so nice when life returns to it’s normal level of crazy! It’s incredible how disruptions in the regularly scheduled program can make things feel all out of whack. But (for the time being) I’m actually in this time zone, healthy, and experiencing a workload that only makes my head spin the standard amount, as opposed to helping me audition as an extra in The Exorcist…
