I’ve had a lot of queries since the blog launched about the photo in my profile pic, which is probably one of my favorite vintage pieces of all time. I’ve seen a vintage dirndl or two in my hunting trips, but never one in blue gingham and definitely never one that fit me quite so perfectly. A dirndl is a traditional dress worn in Germany, but many a vintage garment was made in the dirndl style (apparently called Landhausmode), with a corset-like front that cinches you in and pushes the girls up to high heaven.
Way back when, prior to blogging and when I only had a fledgling Instagram page, Mr. Dressed and I started snapping photos of my daily outfits to promote the Dressed app. I had always loved getting creative with my styling, but never chronicled my outfits for public consumption until that point. This was probably one of the first outfits I ever posted on my Instagram, and was so overwhelmed with the amazing community of people I found there and how much positivity flowed from their computers and smart phones. Needless to say, this may be the outfit that started it all – with those first few likes, I was hooked!
Given I just passed my one year blog-a-versary, I thought it was time that one of the outfits that caused me to fall down the rabbit hole finally made it to the blog. I feel like it represents how far you can come in just a year – that though they go by in a flash (even faster than that nowadays), a lot can happen and change when you’re not paying attention. It’s exciting to think – no matter where you may be right now, with a bit of determination and a lot of hard work, you can completely change your circumstance.
As we hit that midweek hump, I realize there’s a LOT of work still to be done before this week can officially close. Time to get back to what is currently my circumstance, in the form of a pile of thesis chapters to read and a book chapter to finish off and submit.
