What a crazy few months this has been! We started off the new semester (with a new course to prep and new students to corral) and I was immediately whipped into a frenzy of classes and research and trying to continue to set up the lab. And now that October is nearly upon us, my mind starts to instantly travel to styling spooky looks for Halloween. Hey, what’s the point of having a lab full of brains if you can’t get in a zombie mood now and then?
Naturally the interwebs are flooded with all kinds of adorable Halloween-inspired goodies. And though I can definitely get in the spooktacular autumnal spirit, I am also just as inspired by the dreamy dresses floating in front of my retinas that tell me to hold onto summer just a bit longer. I suppose I’m not one to follow the rules of the season. My winter wardrobe is pretty much my summer wardrobe with tights and a cardigan.
So, here’s my latest Lust List, dedicated to Halloween and pretty much everything else I’m finding inspiring at the moment….
For My Castle
If there was every a cuter halloween decoration, I haven’t seen it yet….
It doesn’t matter the season or the event, in life I need two things: coffee and adventure. This mug says it all.

For My Closet
There’s nothing in the rulebook that says “Autumn” has to equal orange and brown… This blue 1950’s wood grain dress is just perfect.
When I was young, I knew it was fall because we would head out into the apple orchard on a crisp weekend. Then the house would be full of apple pies baking. This amazing multi-piece vintage set brings me right back to that apple-licious feeling.
Personally, I like to be a bit less in your face with my halloween styling – this skirt is just perfect.
This dress is just everything October should be. Nature’s first green is gold after all.
To me, my personal perfection is fall colors and a puff sleeve…..
Is there anything more perfect in autumn than gingham? I just adore how unique this 1950’s dress is…
And although I know brown can get a bit of a bad rap, this Pat Premo dress is just stunning, feeling like crisp leaves and just calling out for a pop color shoe…

I have to admit, I’m getting a bit spoiled by NC weather. The humidity has finally burnt off and the evenings are perfectly crisp and pleasant. I’ve been sympathizing with my fellow bloggers and IG favorites, who are bemoaning the need to tuck their summer sundresses away. Secretly, I’m reveling in the fact that I get to embrace mine for a few weeks more.
The semester has finally hit its midpoint, which means I’ve nearly crested the hill and can see the end in sight! It’s all about keeping you eye on the prize…
