Phish Food - The Dressed Aesthetic

Well, it happened again. Some manner of pants found their way onto my person. And the culprit, yet again, Voodoo Vixen. I simply couldn’t help myself when their bevy of adorable jumpsuits and playsuits hit the cyber waves this past season! And this daisy-trimmed cutie was no exception. From the color to the cut to the flouncy shorts, I knew this one was going to be an instant favorite.

A few months back, I reviewed the Zarah Striped Jumpsuit and was really excited for the chance to take her shorter, greener sister for a spin. The Jayne Green playsuit is just as cute as she is functional. Outside of the normal playsuit concerns (such as – how on earth does one go to the bathroom in this thing??), this one was definitely another win from Voodoo Vixen.

As with the Zarah, I went for a medium in the Jayne playsuit and I’m really glad I did. Although the fabric has some stretch, I think I’m learning I like a bit more ease of movement in jumpsuits than I do in my dresses. This one measured 36″ bust, 28-29″ waist, and 41-42″ hip, with a 13″ rise and an adjustable bodice, which fell right in line with the size chart (where a M was 36″ bust, 29″ waist, and 38″ hip). Although a bit big in the waist for me, the waist tie let me cinch it in perfectly.

I also loved the fabric – although it was a textured poly-rayon blend, this one felt more breathable than the polyester of the Zarah, which got a bit clingy in our NC heat this summer. I also was completely smitten with the daisy trim along the bust line, pockets, and hem – it’s the little details that make clothing so much fun to wear.

One of my favorite fellow bloggers CiCi also reviewed this piece awhile back and just like me, was smitten. I think the best thing about checking out CiCi’s review as well is that we couldn’t be more dissimilar in stature. At 5’3, this playsuit looks adorable on her, but still managed to be proportionate on my 5’9 frame as well. I feel the secret is in the adjustable straps. I’m coming to learn this to be a staple feature for Voodoo Vixen clothing – the adjustable straps mean it can easily suit a range of body types, be you petite or Amazonian, and still look fabulous.

The Jayne green playsuit retails for between $64-$72 USD and is available through Voodoo Vixen or  Unique Vintage (where I purchased mine), as well as a range of other retailers. Last time I checked, sizes were pretty limited for this cutie, but some hardcore sleuthing might bring up one in your size.

I was feeling fairly sick all weekend, but took a brief respite from my sofa to dart out into the afternoon in this jumpsuit. And it’s a good thing I did, as it’s been raining buckets ever since. But I have to say, this jumpsuit may be exactly what I need for an afternoon of jumping in puddles.

Cause if you can’t beat the fishes, might as well join ’em…

xoxo
