A Modern Fairy Tale

A Modern Fairy Tale - The Dressed Aesthetic

Heading back home after another whirlwind trip, staring blearily into the screen as I recover from the the 30+ hour flight path. As glamorous as travel sounds (and truthfully, can sometimes be), nothing sounds better to me right now than my own bed, a glass of single malt, and a husband to laugh with. Perhaps that is my personal version of a fairy tale – no White Knight needed for this gal (though I can get behind the bejeweled footwear aspect). And despite the allure of pumpkins and the ballgowns and the woodland creatures helping me get dressed, all I really need is a wink, a scotch, and crisp white sheets tucked around me, into which to succumb to my jet lagged slumber. I’m really a pretty easy princess to please….

And no better for my modern fairy tale than a fairy-print dress! She was a piece I commissioned from the amazing Pinup Doll Collection. Every dress I’ve bought from Marta (like this one) is just magical (and the magical part definitely has something to do with the perfect fit). There’s nothing like returning from winter to find summer in Perth is still in full bloom and that the fairies on my sundresses have a few weeks left to frolic…

I have to admit, despite the fairies cavorting on the border print of this dress and the romantic notions it inspires, the only sugarspun dreams in my mind right now is the vision of wearily finding my way to baggage claim and into the arms of my beloved. Where he rescues me from the weight of my carry on luggage and we curl up in bed to catch up on episodes of our favorite shows.

Hopefully you all had an amazing week and are managing to enjoy a little sunshine in your respective parts of the world. Head outside – kiss a frog, thwart an evil queen or two, and twirl in a bit of fairy dusted magic. I plan to bask in a long well-deserved slumber, until I’m awoken with a kiss and the promise of coffee.

I suppose fairy tales DO have their perks…

Wow! This dress was definitely made for you! It looks fabulous on you, and I love the fairies. I’m glad to hear your travels went well! I hope you get some much-deserved rest (and scotch)! 🙂

Thank you! I definitely have gotten some rest, though the jet lag is a bit brutal. It’s been a crazy few months and my body is definitely feeling the wear and tear. The scotch has helped though. 😉 Hope all is well with you! xx

You and me both! I can’t ever seem to resist a fairy print. 😍 There are a few other fairy print dresses from the shop where I got this one – all so cute! xx

Ah, this is a truly magical piece of clothing. It fits you perrrrrfectly. And those shoes, love them too. Glad to hear that your travels were good and that you are heading home to Mr. Dressed & critters. There is no place like home. Tell me, when you travel do you wear your vintage on the plane, and in the cities far away?

Thanks Ayshleigh – I love it too! Though the travels are always fun, I’m very much looking forward to being home. 🙂 Excellent question regarding packing and airplane-wear – As a rule, I dress for comfort on the plane. Plus, in such tight spaces, I always tend to spill something on myself so I always wear things I don’t mind getting messy. I do bring some vintage with me on trips – though I leave my most precious pieces at home, because I’m always paranoid about lost luggage! If I do take any vintage, they’re always cotton (which seem to travel better). You’ve made me realize I may need to do a post on how I pack for travel (since I do it so often!). Stay tuned for that one… 😉 xxx
