Bicycle For Two

Bicycle For Two - The Dressed Aesthetic

It’s very, very rare that I style something the way the store presents it. I always like to put my own spin on it – be it with uber modern shoes, or a pop color that no one else would think of. To me, the epitome of personal style is the way that we can make a look our own. However, every now and then, I see an outfit being advertised and I simply must own the entire thing. This happened the minute I saw this vintage top and 1950’s novelty skirt shown at Pickled Vintage – I couldn’t imagine any better pairing in the world…

Spring has officially sprung here in NC and I couldn’t be happier! My mood lifts when the chill leaves the air and we see sunshine for days. Not only that, but the expanse of summer finally stretches before me as I only have to submit my final grades for the semester tonight and I am officially free! There’s just nothing like the perfect pairings: peanut butter and jelly. summer and freedom. a blue vintage novelty print skirt and her pastel embroidered counterpart….

Tomorrow I fly off for a girl’s weekend that has been about 6 months (or if we’re being honest, more like 2 years) in the making. We have been scattered around the country (and occasionally the world) for the past two decades, and it’s so rare we manage to find ourselves in the same zip code. It’s going to be wine + my favorite ladies in the world, lounging + gossip, eating too much + laughing too hard. I’m just looking forward to being fully and completely myself. There are very few friendships in this world that give you the freedom to be all facets of yourself, from my crazy-organized-type-A self to my want-to-lounge-like-a-sloth-and-eat-nothing-but-rice-krispie-treats self.

And it really couldn’t come at a better time. I want nothing more than zero responsibilities, zero planning, and zero cares in the world. Maybe once in awhile, that’s all we can really ask for. Permission to step back, step away. Pair the old with the new. The get-it-done you with the permission-to-chill you. Who you were with who you have become.

Look out East Hampton, a gaggle of really excited women is about to descend upon you….

xoxo
