{Favorites} Summer Lovin’

{Favorites} Summer Lovin' - The Dressed Aesthetic

I must admit, the last few months of summer have been pretty blissful. Although there’s the normal stress of day to day, I’ve luxuriated in the lack of frantic lecture writing and racing between campus and my office. I think it’s so important to stop and appreciate the downtime, because before I know it, the fall semester will be greeting me with a knowing smirk.

This past week has definitely been one to enjoy. My in-laws were in town to visit, which meant we got to explore parts of the city we never seem to have time to explore: we visited the local battleship, took them on a tour of the lab, and even managed to enjoy a glass (or four) of wine in historic downtown.

One personal part of the summer I find myself enjoying is getting to take the extra time in the morning getting ready. Although I am probably more dressed up than most, I also have my various levels of “together” – when I’m lecturing, I usually throw on something quick, slap on a bit of lip gloss, and dart out the door. In the summer, I can take a bit of time on my makeup, experiment with different crinolines, and bust out some of my favorite summer sundresses.

So, to commemorate these past few months, here are some of my favorite summer looks!

This has also been an exciting week, because it marked my annual Closet Cleanout! I know some of you scooped up some of my pretties in the sale – thank you for giving my garments new homes! It always feels better parting with something when you know it stays in the family. If any of you missed it, you can check out the items that are still up for grabs here. And now, closet clear, might be time to fill it up again…

Happy weekend everyone!
