Hello Sailor!

Hello Sailor! - The Dressed Aesthetic

2016 is here! We had an amazing night out at Amani Bar & Kitchen on NYE, ringing in the New Year with cocktails, gangstas and a LOT of feathers flying everywhere (it was a Prohibition party. You could barely see through the feather boas). Now, we’re well into the New Year and I’m still well into my vacation! I’ve been indulging in a LOT of relaxing, some vintage hunting, catching up on a massive sewing and repair pile, and getting blog posts organized for the new year. If only every day were like vacation, I would seriously be the most productive person in the world. Except for, you know, actual work.

I‘ve also been getting good use out of some of my favorite summer sundresses. We’ve entered into the “sweltering heat” phase of summer here, so my cardigans are sighing with resignation and getting comfy in the back of my wardrobe, while my sundresses are buzzing with anticipation, preening and pushing their way to the front. I was feeling rather “Ahoy-matey” on this fine Monday, so I obliged one of my favorite nautical sundresses. This halter was actually one of my first ever PUG purchases – and a gal never forgets her firsts.

I‘ve fully embraced this Christmas break. With no travel plans, no lists to be made or bags to pack, I am in unfamiliar territory. To be honest, truly melting into a stay-cation and holding true to my word to stay off my email (while still checking for emergencies) and really dive into projects that flex my creative muscles is kind of a first for me. Or, at least it’s been so long since I’ve done it that it feels like a first. It’s been amazing to actually finish things I was going to get to “someday” and tick projects off lists that have long since given up on me.

So this week, I’m tackling the wardrobe cleanout I’ve been threatening (stay tuned) and am going to freshen up my makeup collection – getting rid of what I don’t really use, giving my makeup brushes a good clean, and tossing nail polish that’s past it’s prime (why I hold onto these kinds of things in hopes they will magically become like new again is beyond me). I’m ready to start 2016 refreshed and clutter free!

What projects have you been wanting to tackle lately?

xoxo
