Lust List #16

Lust List #16 - The Dressed Aesthetic

What is it about this time of year? In either hemisphere, the world just seems brimming with possibilities. It’s just barely the start of summer in the North, just barely the start of winter in the South, and the air is crisp and clean and I can feel my closet quiver in excitement at the new season ahead.

I am officially off on another adventure, galavanting around the world for both work and play. That means I get to experience just about every season imaginable. This naturally lends itself to rationalizing both winter and summer purchases. Heaven forbid I be unprepared, right?

So, I’ve put together my latest list of swoonworthy items I’ve spotted around the web. What can I say? Layovers in airports provide a lot of web browsing time…

For My Castle

This bird nester is so charming – not only is it beautiful, but it’s made partly from materials right here in Western Australia!

I adore the platinum twigs inlaid into these teacups. They actually remind me a lot of our wedding china.

I just about fainted when I saw that Horrockes prints were being licensed and made at ASOS. This black and white and red rose printed stunner are my current favorites. Want. Want want want.

I love organic prints – leaves, florals, you name it – and a skirt with these things PLUS glitter? Sign me up.

I’ve had my eye on getting a dress from Hearts and Found for ages. This border printed sundress might be the perfect first piece!

I did a happy dance when I spotted a Fluevog shop on my travels. I tried on these beauties and fell in love. Sigh. Why oh why can’t I have all the shoes?

I love pairing sheer cardigans over my dresses, so that a print peeks through. This lace one is just stunning.

If I could have gotten an inch extra out of the bodice, this gingham cutie would be mine. Look at those APPLES!

This 1950’s rose print dress is no longer on my wishlist, cause I already own her! But after this post, I knew she was on some of yours…

My gut check when deciding whether or not to splurge on something new is how much it already feels like I own it. If I can picture at least three different outfits that incorporate it, I can be pretty sure I’ll get a lot of use out of it. Although, I have been known to scoop up things that spoke to me, despite not really working with anything I currently own. These things can sometimes sit in my closet for up to a year until fate intervenes and sends me a pair of shoes or an accessory that it was meant to pair with all along.

Needless to say, I’ve learned to listen to future me’s closet, whispering of possibilities yet to come (starting to understand why my wardrobe is overflowing yet??)

What is your future closet whispering about at the moment?
