Mint Cream Dream

I love trying unique color combinations. Although mint and red is certainly not groundbreaking, there’s something very eye catching about it that seems to catch people off guard. I always manage to garner looks (well, more than usual) as I go skipping down the street in a sweet confection of minty-red goodness. I can’t tell if it’s the poofy skirt, the polka dot heels, or if people are just trying to work out whether I’m a few months late for Christmas and a few bulbs shy of a Christmas tree…

I always think that the job of a good dress is to do the work for you. This dress is working overtime for me, and I couldn’t be happier. The construction of this beauty is amazing – with a boned, ruched bodice, wasp waist, and full skirt with built in crinoline. With one quick zip I was standing up a bit straighter, feeling a bit twirlier, walking tall with an aura of someone who could take on the world.

I‘ve had this Garden State cocktail dress for awhile now, but I find that I sometimes need to have patience with my clothes. I’m not one of those people who needs to immediately wear a garment as soon as it arrives. On occasion, I like to let it percolate until the fates align for the perfect styling. Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of parcels I practically tear into with my teeth in order to wear right away…but there’s something about waiting for a look to come to fruition that makes it all the sweeter.

Willie, faithful super-pup and true star of this blog (I’m sure that’s how it goes in his head, anyway), is not known for his patience. He is not always willing to wait for perfection and can grow tiresome of all my twirling. During outfit photos, Willie sometimes decides that as much fun as it is to watch me pose and make pensive faces, he would much rather skip off down the street in search of canine adventures. Which necessitates me scampering after him, clip-clopping in heels and tulle, like a big minty cream puff, much to the neighbors confusion and simultaneous delight. I’m not sure if they know what to make of me, but that suits me just fine – always keep ’em guessing!

So, shaken any neighbors up lately??
