Two Faced

It’s safe to say we all have multiple facets to our personalities. One of my favorite things about style is that you can dress differently to suit each of those facets – one day you may be feeling boho, another you may want to incorporate a bit of rock rebel into your look (who doesn’t love a good moto jacket over a floral vintage dress?) or pull out some of those crop tops you realized had been gathering a bit of dust of late. But, whatever your mood, clothing is always there like a loyal friend to lend a hand with self-expression.

I found this vintage skirt years ago while prowling around in Auckland, New Zealand. I fell in love with the unique print, almost as if one side was the person I was and the other the person I was becoming, as it was definitely still a point in my life when I was swirling around the style aesthetic I loved but hadn’t quite found myself yet. I took both sides with me on the move to California and then she made it over the big blue-green ocean again when we came to Australia. Suffice to say this is one well-traveled skirt.

Although I tend to pull out all of the stops when I get dressed for work, there are certain things that only come out to play on the weekend – like my collection of cropped tops. Belly baring may not be appropriate for work, but all bets are off on the weekend when the sunshine is calling my name. It’s when I get to shed the fancy and enjoy a bit of casual dressing now and again. And yes, this is my version of casual. Don’t judge. 😉

This holiday weekend is going to involve a whole lot of lounging, preferably in my hammock. A few picnics. Catching up on non-work related things. And, most importantly, enjoying a much-needed recharge and perhaps a bit of reflection and gratitude for that other half of me, skipping around New Zealand, wandering towards the person I would one day become.

Where will your weekend wanderings take you?

xoxo
