Violets are Blue

One thing I love about collecting vintage is that I feel as though I’m collecting stories. More often than not, we don’t get to know the previous owner of these amazing garments and often are left to speculate about who loved her and what dancefloors she was twirled around on. When is comes to this beautiful dress, I have the pleasure of knowing her previous owner. I am an avid follower of the lovely Jessica of Pinup Persuasion and when this stunning dress, with swirls of violet and teal flowers, came straight out of her closet and onto my radar, I knew we were fated to become part of one other’s stories.

Awhile back, I caught myself saying, “I don’t really wear a lot of florals…” And I had to stop myself. Cue scrunched up face, head tilt, and mental photo highlight reel. If there’s one thing that having a daily chronicle of your outfits will do for you, it’s to hold up a very large mirror that laughs in the face of your self-delusionment.  Blogging has been rather enlightening and has shown me that not only do I wear a lot of vintage floral dresses, I am completely addicted to them. Humph. Color me embarrassed. Hello, my name is Kara and I’m a floral-holic. Ah well, there are worse things to be!

My story this week has been page after page of crazy-busy. But, friday has finally arrived! (to those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, I’m writing from the future! Friday is coming, I promise). It’s been one of those weeks where I really feel as thought I’ve earned it. It’s been a busy week trying to put the finishing touches on a few projects and helping students with their experiments. Despite the hard work, there’s a sense of satisfaction in ticking boxes. And it never hurts to be crazy busy while wearing a beautiful dress – I always find I work better when I feel put together.

It’s been pretty busy blog-wise as well. I have a few collaborations coming up in the next few weeks that I’m really excited about, including a new Spotlight On feature, some product reviews, and a giveaway. Maybe even a floral print or two! Though we’re almost to the middle of the year, when it comes to blog momentum, I’m just getting started…

Happy weekend! Got anything fun planned?

xoxo
