Wednesdays

Wednesdays - The Dressed Aesthetic

This is that very magical time of year where the trees take on a certain sparkle and tinsel starts to grace shop windows. Autumnal tones start to give way to winter whites, forest greens, and cranberry reds. So, I do as any normal vintage-loving girl would do: Fight back hard with the brightest hues I can find in my closet…

The chill in the air these days has been matched with one of my worst enemies: neutrals. Now, don’t get me wrong, I can rock a nude pump or a black handbag when the occasion calls for it. But my soul longs for color. It wants to cut through the winter gloom and dark palettes gracing every shop window with bursts of citrus, pops of fuchsia, and unapologetic neons.

Cause on Wednesdays, this girl wears PINK.

This multi-toned beauty was a recent acquisition from Old Friends Vintage. It was listed as being miles too tiny for me, but given it was a fraternal twin to one of my very favorite color blocked dresses, I just couldn’t give up on it. I messaged the lovely Justine and asked if there was any seam allowance, fully expecting there to be none. But, this is a good lesson in “it never hurts to ask,” because there was a good 2″ to work with hidden inside her 3-toned bodice! After a quick visit with my Bernina, this blush beauty hugged my curves and fought the grey gloom like a champ.

This is the time in the semester where I need a bit of strawberry sass more than ever – the end is in sight, but we all need to grab our 8th wind to make it to the the holiday break. With only a few lectures to go and final exams looming, I plan to finish this year strong without a neutral in sight.

Now let’s color this Wednesday with every crayon in the box!
